New Skate Shop in Pittsburgh! -- Scumbag SkateShop. Opens NEXT WEEK

I just got a lead on a new skateshop opening in Pittsburgh.  It is actually located about 20 minutes to the east of Pittsburgh in a town called Natrona.  It will be called Scumbag Skate Shop and it is opening on July 1, 2009.  I will be getting more details as they come in.  I am also bugging them for thier full inventory list and will get that posted before they open.

The rumor is also that they will be opening a skatepark within a few months

Turn Up the Awesome! 1031 Demo at Pipes Skatepark

Alex from Pipes shot this over.  1031 Skates and Landshark Wheels are coming to Export, PA!  1 Demo, 2 Companies, Same Dudes!  SIke.  This should definately be one of those things you get excited about.  This is just raw skateboarding. Fun and chaos.  I would be suprised if Pipes is still standing in the morning.

Plank Eye Shirts now with NO BUTTONS!

Plank Eye Skate Shop got some new shirts in a "super soft" cotton.  Of course, they don't publish the price or leave the metal part of the hanger in the picture, so this is all the information I can get you at this point.  They are available in Red and Black and the cotton is "Super Soft".

Pool Montage

Pittsburgh really isn't known for its concrete pools.  Probably something to do with the constant freezing and thawing of the land.  There are probably 3 in this whole city.  So when one comes around, you have to take advantage of it.  This vid came in from Justin Beck with local music from Empty Handed.  Its pretty rad to watch their progression from the time the drain the pool until they start carving over the light.

Skate Soup is Still Alive...(even if i am not)

For some reason, the skate news in Pittsburgh was so slow in January that I decided I did not have enough to do.  So I chose to go back to school full time and take on a full time job. 

I am aware that I haven't posted in about a month and it is mainly due to trying to adjust to my new schedule.  I am working with a few others and posts should be resuming soon.

With the weather breaking soon there should be more photos, videos and information coming in.  This arctic winter we have been having, has pretty much shut down all skating.

If you are interested in becoming a contributor for skatesoup.com then please fill out the form on the Add to the Soup Page.  We are looking for Writers, Photographers and Filmers.  YOU WILL BE COMPENSATED (at some point!) or at least you will have a grand old time and a feeling of job well done.  You will profit share with the site based on your contribution to the site.

Here is How it Will Work:
Lets say in a given month there are a total of 60 Quality Posts and you contributed 20 of them.  Your 20 posts / 60 total posts = 33% of the Posts were yours.  You will then be entitled to 33% of the money available for contributors.

Let me know if this sounds interesting to you, or if you have a better idea.  I am always open to suggestions even if I will initially belittle you, tell you it is a dumb idea, implement it a day later and claim it as my own.  SIKE----NOT.  No seriously.
