I was searching for a bunch of domain names (some of which will rear their ugly heads in coming days), and then skatesoup popped up. I figured that could work and it is easy to remember. The "skate" part kind of goes with the theme of the site and the "soup" part implies that it has a bunch of stuff in it from all over the place.
But what you never realize at the time is how much a domain name may already be in use or if it is something that already exists in nature.
For example, there really is a "Skate Soup". The "Skate" is some sort of water creature related to the ray. People make soup out it because its delicate white flesh becomes rippled when it hits the hot broth. Here is a recipe from cookitsimply
1 lb (450 g) skate
1 medium onion, skinned and thinly sliced
125 g (4 oz) celery, cleaned and sliced
3 tbsp (60 ml) lemon juice
2 bay leaves
salt and freshly ground pepper
1 1/4 cup (1/2 pint) 300 ml milk
5 fl oz (142 ml) soured cream
25 g (1 oz) lump fish roe (caviar-style)
snipped fresh chives to garnish
If you like getting totally extreme, then you are going to love the "Skate Soup" t-shirt available over at
